Cultural Festival

On Thursday 23rd November we had a Fia Fia night at WPS. The Tongan, Samoan and Cook Island group performed. Two of Room 7's students performed in the Tongan group.

On Saturday 25th November the cultural groups performed at the Albert-Eden Cultural Festival at Rocket Park! There were many schools performing with lots of stalls and activities. Our 2 students from Room 7 also performed with the Tongan group in front of the thousands of people on the outside stage! Our WPS groups were awesome and everyone enjoyed themselves!

Here are some photos of our WPS students looking fabulous and performing outstandingly

Letters to Petsonthenet

Our WPS cat Ron had an adventure last week! Ron went missing but was later found by the SPCA. The SPCA saw our ad on Petsonthenet and contacted us. Kim from Petsonthenet emailed Miss Lister so we decided to write letters to thank Kim and her team for their awesome help. Petsonthenet even published our letters on their Facebook page! We are so delighted to have Ron back with us!

WALT DODGE!

For PE, Room 7 is learning how to dodge! We are doing this by bending one knee and extending our other leg while looking at where we are going. We loved playing dodging games and dodgeball. We were able to use our dodging skills to apply this to our game to trick others to think we were going in a certain direction!

Get Firewise!

WPS have been learning how to keep safe around fire and we can escape a fire. Four firemen from the NZ fire service showed us the gear they wear when entering a building on fire and even brought a fire truck with them! They demonstrated how they can use the fire engine to put out a fire.

Our very own student from Room 7 also was lucky enough to put on a fireman's clothes! It is made of a special material to protect the men when they are trying to put out the fire.

These are some of the things that makes Room 7 happy!

During Circle Time, we said the things which make us happy. We then wrote about these in writing. Have a look through the photos at what makes us happy!

Our School Trip to the Botanical Gardens!

In week 5, Room 7, Room 8 and Room 9 went to the Botanical Gardens! We loved visiting the Botanical Gardens and we even got to make our own Broad Bean plants and we got to take them back to class! We also learnt about the plant cycle and we looked at the worms through magnifying glasses. We saw them eating the food that is thrown into the compost.

After, the Takahe classes got to plant some plants in the Potter Park children's garden.
Later, we got to explore the gardens and walk around with our groups. Room 7 loved sitting in the egg the most!

We want to say a big kia ora to our parent helpers who came with the Takahe team! Kia ora koe for helping us and providing great memories with our tamariki!

Kiwiball

At the start of Term 3, WPS was lucky enough to have Coach Marko teach us Kiwiball! We loved having Coach Marko teach us batting and catching skills. We also used Coach Marko in our writing. We hope Coach Marko can come play Kiwiball with us again!

Check out our pictures below that show us working as a team in Kiwiball!
